#DrawAJawa & #DrawAWookie Call For Submissions for #MayThe4th on TOYSREVIL

“May the 4th” AKA “Star Wars Day” will be upon us very soon, and the TOYSREVIL blog (AND on #starwarsallday, of course) continues to celebrate the event with doodle challenges #drawajawa and #drawawookie!

Folks can either email in your submissions (to "toysreviler [at] gmail.com), or hashtag it on Instagram (don't forget to let me know if it's cool if I could embed your image on my blog, thanks!)

Here’s a couple lil’slideshow videos I did of submissions from over 3 years back, as a reference for folks interested to participate:)

*This is NOT a contest to win any prizes tho (unless sponsors want to partner me up? :p), but just a fun way to celebrate your love for Star Wars, or to promote yourselves and your ART on my blog :)

'Where The Wookiee Things Are' by Cracked Hatchet / WheresChappell (for #ToyConUK - April 29-30)

UK-based artist Ian Chappell AKA “Cracked Hatchet” (TAGGED #onTOYSREVIL) will be showcasing a line-up of resin awesomeness he had sculpted and hand-painted, at the coming ToyCon UK (April 29-30, 2017 - look for Booth #2) - chief of which is “WHERE THE WOOKIE THINGS ARE” - featuring a mash-up between Boba Fett and a Wookie, by-way of a lurking monster from “Where The Wild Things Are”!

And while all 4 colorways (Proto/Jedi/Kenner/Holiday) will be on display at ToyConUK, they will not be for sale, except for the "EMPIRE" Edition (see pic at bottom of post) - limited to only 5pcs! (*Price unknown).

As always the color choices are in a muted palette of earthy tones, and frankly gives it a stronger sense of "gravitas" that lifts the original sculpts (by Ian himself) into a realm of "designed" art piece, IMHO.

Here are a few more snaps of the editions, viewable from his Instagram @whereschappell! No further product nor price details revealed as yet tho,

A Tribute To Carrie Fisher (for 40th Anniversary at Star Wars Celebration 2017)

Featured at the 40th anniversary panel of the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, was this Video Tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, which frankly left me a teary eyed last night before I went to bed …

For the uninitiated, Carrie Fisher played “Princess Leia” in Star Wars.

And while it has been previously confirmed that Carrie Fisher will be in Episode 8, “General Leia” will not be in Episode 9. LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy mentioned;
“We finished everything in VIII and Carrie is absolutely phenomenal in the movie, and we’re so happy we were able to complete filming in the summer. Unfortunately, Carrie passed away [at a] time when we were well underway with Episode IX in our thoughts. We had not written a script yet. But we’ve regrouped. We started over again in January. Sadly, Carrie will not be in IX.” (Quoted on lrmonline.com)

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a movie that brought together generations of characters as well as generations of film fanatics. As one of the most long-standing, classic film franchises, Star Wars has always been about the relationships that its iconic characters share, and The Force Awakens introduced a brand new generation of fascinating characters and relationships, all battling it out for the fate of the galaxy.

With that in mind, we teamed up with Acme Archives and Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz) to tackle a companion piece to his phenomenal print for the original Star Wars trilogy that we released last year. Gabz’ Star Wars art has consistently blown us away, and his piece for The Force Awakens is no different. All of our favorite characters, both new and old, presented in an epic fashion--the force is strong in this one."

POWER OF THE DARK SIDE Print by Andy Fairhurst x Bottleneck Gallery Drops March 28th

Join the Dark Side with U.K.-based Andy Fairhurst’s “POWER OF THE DARK SIDE” print releasing Tuesday March 28th @ 12pm eastern via bottleneckgallery.com! Produced by Bottleneck Gallery, the “Power of the Dark Side” fine art giclee is sized 16 x 20 inches, in a hand-numbered edition of 200, each priced at US$50.00.

BOTTLENECK GALLERY PRESS: ”Rouge One: A Star Wars Story is a film filled with memorable scenes. Today, Andy Fairhurst brings us the most brutal of those scenes with his depiction of Darth Vader dispatching an entire hallway full of rebels in ruthless fashion. Andy’s take on Darth Vader’s show-stealing scene at the end of Rogue One is a brilliant depiction of the classic villain. Vader’s presence in the print is devastating, as he decimates the Rebel soldiers, and shows just how relevant and iconic he truly is, even forty years after his first appearance in Star Wars: Episode IV.”

“k-4SLO Security Droid” Custom by Mike Slobot

Mike Slobot shares with us snaps and word that his latest custom robot is currently available for purchase online. The “k-4SLO Security Droid is customised from a ”K-2SO” collectible from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, and stands about 20″ tall. It features a glow in the dark eye, custom painted lime green and silver body, and glow in the dark wires.

The k-4SLO Security Droid Story: "Truth be told, I’ve always wanted a protocol droid to help out in the Slobot factory, but we’ve just never taken the plunge. A few weeks ago, one of these KX-Series Security Droids went Rogue and stumbled into the Slobot factory looking for repairs. Like K-2SO from Star Wars Rogue One, he is a re-programmed Imperial Droid. In need of repair and tired of looking like he still worked for the Empire, the newly rebranded K-4SLO got an upgraded processor pack, a fresh lime green paint job and some new wiring. Now the factory has the best parts of a protocol droid and a protector droid. No word yet on whether he speaks Bocce."

The concept of this line of collectibles are that the “rides” mimic that of old school coin operated stationary rides, whereby kids pop in a coin, to have the machine “move” within a limited space/distance.

In lieu of a “life-sized” ride, we can relive our glorious memories of the galactic adventure via desktop/toy-display collectibles!

The “coin op machines” are all ridden by a faceless female costumer/cosplayer character created Fools Paradise, named “Keiko”, who adorn enlarged stylized helmets, gloves and boots, and very little else.

This is the fourth Star Wars-inspired Ride to be released thus far!
